G-Shock Sessions Manchester
In November, 2022, I was asked to take part in the very first G-Shock Session outside of London. I am incredibly honoured to have been a part of this amazing project!
Four Manchester based artists were asked to produce artwork that responded to the brief of “Never Give Up” and then had our artwork displayed at a G-Shock Session in Off the Square, Manchester which also featured a back-to-back DJ battle. The other artists were Pete Obsolete, Liam Heeley and Piicasa. Massive, massive thank you to G-Shock, Ste Wing and the sponsors CodeandCulture and MNT Condition for this event, and for the amazing watch! I’m literally never going to take it off.
The piece of art I chose to make focused on my relationship with my Dad passing away in 2010. I created an art piece that symbolises making art as a way to connect with my Dad. The painting features Japanese numbers starting at 2010 and counting up to 2022, a year still in progress, being painted by myself.
